How to Activate a Windows 11 Pro Product Key

Activating Windows 11 Pro

After receiving your Windows 11 Pro product key, follow these steps to activate it:

1. Open Settings > System > Activation
2. Under Update product key, click Change product key
3. Enter your purchased product key and click Next
4. Follow the prompts to complete activation

Upgrading from Windows Home to Windows Pro

If your computer currently runs Windows 11 Home, you need to upgrade to Pro before your key will work:

1. Disconnect from the internet completely
2. Go to Settings > System > Activation
3. Under Update product key, click Change product key
4. Enter this generic retail key to trigger the upgrade: VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T
5. Click Activate if prompted
6. If the issue persists, restart your computer and try again
7. Once the upgrade to Pro is complete, reconnect to the internet
8. Go back to Settings > System > Activation and enter your purchased product key to fully activate Windows Pro

Key Not Working?

If your key shows an error:

• Make sure you have disconnected from the internet before entering the generic upgrade key
• Make sure you are entering the correct key — the generic key is only to trigger the upgrade, and your purchased key is used afterwards to activate
• Try restarting your computer between steps
• If the key still does not work, please contact our support team with your order number and a screenshot of the error
