Short Answer
Yes, this is completely normal. All Autodesk licences sold by Get Renewed Tech are ex-educational licences. Seeing "Educational" or "EDU" in your licence type is expected and does not affect the functionality of your software in any way.
What Does "Educational" Mean?
The licence was originally issued through Autodesk's educational programme. We reassign these licences to your Autodesk account. The key things to know:
- Full access — You get complete access to all features of the software, identical to a commercial licence
- No watermarks — There are no watermarks on your drawings, models, or any output
- No limitations — There are no restrictions on what you can do with the software
- Not checked — Eligibility is not checked or enforced by Autodesk or Get Renewed Tech
Where Will I See "Educational"?
The only place the educational designation typically appears is:
- Under licence type in the application's licence settings or "About" screen
- In some versions, briefly on the splash screen when launching the application
It does not appear on your drawings, prints, exports, or any work you produce.
Will Autodesk Remove My Licence?
We have sold tens of thousands of licences and Autodesk has never removed a licence that was assigned this way. The licence is assigned directly to your Autodesk account and functions like any other active licence.
Can I Get a Commercial Licence Instead?
We only sell ex-educational licences. If you specifically require a commercial licence designation (for example, due to a company policy), you would need to purchase directly from Autodesk. However, functionally there is no difference between an ex-educational licence and a commercial licence.
