"Multiple Activation Key Limit" Error — How to Fix It (done)

What Does This Error Mean?
If you see the message "Your installation cannot be activated because you have activated up to the limit of your multiple activation key", it usually means your computer was unable to complete the normal online activation check with Microsoft’s servers.

In many cases, this does not mean your key has actually run out of activations.

How to Fix It
You can usually complete the activation using the telephone activation method. Despite the name, you do not need to call anyone — the process can be completed online.

Follow these steps:

In the activation window, select Telephone Activation
You will be shown an Installation ID, which is a long set of numbers
Go to the activation page: https://uk.getrenewedtech.com/activate
Enter your Installation ID and follow the on-screen instructions
You will then receive a Confirmation ID
Enter the Confirmation ID back into the activation window
Click Activate to complete the process

Why This Happens
This message is most commonly caused by one of the following:

A firewall or security program is blocking communication with Microsoft’s activation servers
Your internet connection was interrupted during activation
You are activating on another device using a multi-system licence, and the standard online activation limit has been reached

In these cases, the telephone activation method usually works without any issue.
