AutoCAD on Mac — Overview
Yes, AutoCAD is available for Mac, and the license you purchase from GetRenewedTech works the same way on both Windows and Mac — it is tied to your Autodesk account, not your device. This means you can use the same license on either platform by simply logging into your Autodesk account.
Downloading AutoCAD for Mac
- Go to manage.autodesk.com and sign in with the Autodesk account your license was assigned to.
- Locate AutoCAD under your products and click Download.
- Select the Mac version from the available options.
- Run the downloaded installer and follow the on-screen prompts.
- Once installed, open AutoCAD and sign in with your Autodesk account to activate the license.
macOS Version Compatibility
Each version of AutoCAD has different macOS requirements. As a general guide:
- AutoCAD 2025 / 2026 — requires macOS Ventura (13) or later
- AutoCAD 2024 — requires macOS Monterey (12) or later
- AutoCAD 2023 — requires macOS Big Sur (11) or later
If your macOS version is not compatible, consider downloading an older AutoCAD version that your license covers, or update your macOS first.
AutoCAD LT for Mac
AutoCAD LT is also available for Mac and works identically — the license is account-based and can be activated by signing into your Autodesk account after installation. If you purchased AutoCAD LT, you will see it listed in your manage.autodesk.com products page.
Known Mac Limitations
The Mac version of AutoCAD is fully featured for most use cases, but there are some differences compared to Windows:
- Toolsets such as AutoCAD Architecture, AutoCAD Electrical, and AutoCAD Mechanical are only available on Windows. If you need these specialised toolsets, you will need to run AutoCAD on a Windows system.
- Some third-party plugins and add-ons may not have Mac-compatible versions.
- The interface may look slightly different from Windows, but core functionality is the same.
Transitioning from a Trial to a Purchased License
If you were using a trial version of AutoCAD for Mac, the transition to your purchased license is straightforward:
- Once your license has been assigned to your Autodesk account (you will receive a confirmation email from us), open AutoCAD.
- Sign out of your Autodesk account within AutoCAD.
- Sign back in — AutoCAD will now detect your active subscription and the trial banner will disappear.
If the trial has not expired yet, you may need to wait until it does before the paid license takes precedence, or sign out and back in to force the refresh.
License Appears Expired?
If your license unexpectedly shows as expired, please contact our support team with your order number. We can verify and reassign the license to your account. Do not uninstall AutoCAD — simply wait for us to resolve the account issue and then sign out and back in.
