Moving Your Licence to a New Computer

If you have bought a new computer, had a hardware failure, or simply want to move your software to another device, the process depends on whether you purchased a Microsoft Office licence or an Autodesk product.

Moving a Microsoft Office Licence

In most cases, you can simply reinstall Microsoft Office on the new computer using your original download link and product key without any issue.

To do this:

  1. Download and install Office on the new computer using the link from your original order confirmation email
  2. Open any Office app, such as Word
  3. Go to File > Account > Change Product Key
  4. Enter your product key and complete activation

If online activation does not work, use the activation tool here:

Before activating, make sure you are signed out of any Microsoft 365 account inside Office, as this can sometimes cause activation conflicts.

If you need to fully remove an old Office installation first, you can download Office Tool here:

If reinstalling on the new computer does not work, please open a ticket on our helpdesk with your order number and our team will assist you.

Moving an Autodesk Licence

Autodesk licences work differently from Microsoft Office licences.

They are linked to your Autodesk account rather than to one specific computer. This means moving to a new device is much simpler.

To use your Autodesk product on a new computer:

  1. Sign in to your Autodesk account
  2. Download the software from your Autodesk account
  3. Install it on the new computer
  4. Sign in using the same Autodesk account email address the licence was assigned to

Your licence should then be recognised automatically.

There is usually no need to contact support just to use Autodesk on a different computer.

Please note that Autodesk licences are generally intended for one active user at a time. Signing in on a new device may sign you out of the previous one.

Frequently Asked Questions

My old computer is broken — can I still move the licence?

Yes.

For Microsoft Office, in most cases you can simply reinstall and activate on the new computer using your original details. If that does not work, please open a ticket on our helpdesk.

For Autodesk, you can usually install the software on the new computer and sign in with the same Autodesk account.

Will moving my licence affect my files?

No. Moving a licence does not affect your documents, drawings, or saved files. Your files remain wherever you have stored them.

How long does it take?

Autodesk access is usually immediate once you sign in on the new device.

For Microsoft Office, most customers can reinstall and activate straight away on the new computer. If there is an activation problem, our team can then review it after you open a ticket.
