Short Answer
Yes. If you already have an Autodesk trial, an existing subscription, or a previous licence from us, your new licence will still work. However, Autodesk only uses one active licence at a time on an account, so your new licence will normally take over once the current one ends.
How It Works
If You Have an Active Trial
If you are currently using an Autodesk trial:
- The trial will continue until it expires
- Once it ends, sign out of the Autodesk application and sign back in
- The software should then detect and use your new licence automatically
- You do not need to reinstall the software
If You Have an Existing Subscription
If you already have an active Autodesk subscription, whether purchased directly from Autodesk or elsewhere:
- Autodesk will continue using the currently active subscription first
- Once that subscription expires, sign out and back in to the application
- The new licence should then become active
- If you want the new licence assigned to a different email address, please contact us through the helpdesk
If You Have an Expired Licence
If your previous licence has already expired:
- Sign out of the Autodesk application and sign back in
- If it still shows as expired, go to Change License Type > Switch User
- Then sign in with your Autodesk ID again
- The application should detect your new licence and activate it
Do I Need to Reinstall?
No. In most cases, you do not need to uninstall or reinstall any Autodesk software. Simply signing out and back in is usually enough for the application to pick up the correct licence.
Can I Use Two Licences at the Same Time?
Autodesk only allows one active licence per account. If you need to use two licences at the same time, for example on two separate computers with both in use simultaneously, the second licence will usually need to be assigned to a different Autodesk account using a different email address.
If you need help arranging this, please contact us through the helpdesk.
Why Does My New Licence Not Appear Under “Subscriptions”?
Licences purchased through Get Renewed Tech may not appear under the Subscriptions section of your Autodesk account. This is normal. Your licence can still be active and work correctly in the Autodesk application even if it does not show there.
