Fusion 360 License — Getting Started and Troubleshooting

Free vs Paid Fusion 360 — What’s the Difference?

Autodesk offers a free version of Fusion 360 for personal use, but it comes with limitations. The paid version gives you access to the full set of design, engineering, and manufacturing tools.

If you have purchased Fusion 360 from GetRenewedTech, your licence is assigned directly to your Autodesk account. There is no product key to enter. Once the licence has been assigned, you simply sign in with the correct Autodesk account and Fusion 360 will use the paid subscription.

What the Paid Version Includes

The paid version of Fusion 360 includes access to the full software experience, including:

  • full design and modelling tools
  • full manufacturing and CAM features
  • simulation tools
  • generative design features

Getting Started

Step 1: Make Sure You Have an Autodesk Account

You will need an Autodesk account to use Fusion 360.

If you do not already have one, create an Autodesk account using the same email address you used when placing your order.

Step 2: Allow Time for Licence Assignment

Fusion 360 licences are manually assigned by our team.

During business hours, many orders are completed fairly quickly, but some can take longer, especially outside business hours or if additional security checks apply.

Please allow up to 12 hours before opening a ticket on our helpdesk.

Step 3: Check Your Autodesk Account

Once your licence has been assigned, sign in to your Autodesk account and check the Products and Services section.

You should see Fusion 360 listed there once the assignment is complete.

Step 4: Download and Install Fusion 360

Once Fusion 360 appears in your Autodesk account:

  1. Open the Products and Services section
  2. Find Fusion 360
  3. Click Download
  4. Run the installer
  5. Follow the on-screen installation steps

When Fusion 360 opens, sign in with your Autodesk account and the paid licence should be recognised automatically.

Switching From a Free or Trial Version

If you already have Fusion 360 installed and it was previously being used in free or trial mode, you may just need to refresh the account session.

  1. Open Fusion 360
  2. Click your profile or account icon in the top-right corner
  3. Select Sign Out
  4. Close Fusion 360 completely
  5. Reopen Fusion 360
  6. Sign back in with the Autodesk account your paid licence was assigned to

Fusion 360 should then begin using the paid subscription.

If the Paid Licence Is Not Showing

If Fusion 360 is still not showing the paid licence, check the following:

  • make sure you are signed in with the correct Autodesk account
  • make sure enough time has passed for the licence to be assigned
  • sign out and sign back in again
  • check whether Autodesk is having a temporary platform issue

Do not uninstall Fusion 360 straight away, as this is usually an account or assignment refresh issue rather than an installation problem.

When to Open a Ticket

If 12 hours have passed and:

  • Fusion 360 is not showing in your Autodesk account
  • the software is still showing a free, trial, or unavailable subscription state
  • you are unsure whether the correct Autodesk account was used

please open a ticket on our helpdesk and include:

  • your order number
  • the email address used at checkout
  • your Autodesk account email address
  • a screenshot of what is being shown, if possible

This will help our team check the assignment and assist you more quickly.
