Why Is My Autodesk License Showing as Expired or 'No Active Subscription'? (done)

Why Your Autodesk Licence May Show as Expired

Seeing an “expired” or “no active subscription” message in Autodesk software is one of the most common issues customers run into. In most cases, the licence itself is still valid. The problem is usually that the software is not picking up the correct Autodesk account or has not refreshed the licence properly.

Step 1: Sign Out and Sign Back In

The first and most effective fix is to refresh your Autodesk session.

  1. Open your Autodesk software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, or Maya
  2. Click your profile or account name in the top-right corner
  3. Select Sign Out
  4. Close the application completely
  5. Reopen it and sign back in using the Autodesk account your licence was assigned to

This forces the software to check your licence status again and often resolves the issue straight away.

Step 2: Use Change Licence Type

If signing out and back in does not fix it, try switching the licence type manually.

  1. Open the Autodesk software
  2. Go to Help > Change License Type
  3. Select Switch User
  4. Sign in with your Autodesk account email address

On some versions, you may see a Let’s Get Started screen when the software opens. If so, you can also use that screen to sign in again with the correct Autodesk account.

Multi-Year Autodesk Licences

If you purchased a multi-year licence, such as a 3-year term, Autodesk may sometimes show the licence as expired after the first year even though time still remains.

This can happen when Autodesk does not automatically apply the next yearly portion of the subscription. If that happens, please open a ticket on our helpdesk with your order number and we can check and reassign the licence if needed.

Could It Be an Autodesk Platform Issue?

Occasionally, Autodesk may have a temporary platform issue that causes valid licences to appear missing or inactive.

If everything looks correct but the software still shows as expired, wait a little while and then try signing out and back in again.

When to Open a Ticket

Please open a ticket on our helpdesk if:

  • You have already signed out and back in, but the issue is still there
  • Your multi-year licence appears expired after the first year
  • The product is not showing in your Autodesk account at all
  • The software is showing a trial instead of your paid subscription

When opening your ticket, include:

  • Your order number
  • The email address your Autodesk account is registered to
  • A screenshot of the message shown, if possible

This will help our team check the licence and assist you more quickly.
